Sign Heads

I started thinking about how signs are used to tell us something and what if this could be applied to people?  If people had signs instead of heads, the signs might tell us their aspirations and ambitions, what they're thinking or how they're feeling. So I started playing around with putting signs in the place of peoples heads.

I wasn't too sure what i was doing, so I just started playing around with signs and doing some painting.

The beginnings...

I went out and just took pictures around the city for the first day or two and when I went back through them I kept coming back to signs.  So I decided to run with that.  They're everywhere and, obviously, a vital part of the urban environment. I started to think about what exactly signs are used for; they're there to give us information and this led me on to thinking about using them in a different way.

I'm explorong traffic lights and street signs in the urban environment.  This week I'm playing around with replacing peoples heads with signs, I want to to put symbols that represent something about the persons goals, aspirations or personalitieson the sign instead of the usual symbols one sees.
